Chongqing Completes 0.75 sq km International Railway Port Bonded Zone

On April 16, Chongqing marked a milestone as construction finished on its International Railway Port Comprehensive Bonded Zone. Approved by the State Council on April 30, 2024, this 0.75 square-kilometer facility is the city's seventh comprehensive bonded zone, designed to streamline global trade.

Strategically located in Shapingba District's Chongqing International Logistics Hub Park, the new zone adjoins key nodes on the China-Europe freight corridor. Rail container centers, inland ports, and logistics channels converge here, creating a seamless "zone-port linkage" that connects bonded operations with port and hub functions.

Embracing the "mega-port" integrated dispatch platform concept, the bonded zone features advanced digital management systems for contactless clearance and automated supervision. Tight hardware and software integration with the Chongqing railway port ensures unified operations across two special customs supervision zones within the expanded port area.

Han Chao, deputy general manager of Chongqing International Logistics Hub Park Construction Co., Ltd., says the zone will complement existing bonded areas by focusing on automotive and parts, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, cold-chain food, and intelligent equipment. The facility also offers "bonded+" services such as processing and manufacturing, testing and maintenance, and logistics distribution.

Looking ahead, local authorities plan to accelerate an integrated "international channel + railway port + bonded zone" framework, reinforcing Chongqing's role as a major inland trade and logistics hub and bolstering global supply chains.
