The 9th edition of the border defense friendship exchange between the Chinese mainland and Vietnam kicked off this week, marking another milestone in bilateral cooperation. Running from April 11 to 17, the event brings together border communities along the Chinese mainland's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Vietnam's Lang Son Province through a series of joint defense, health, and cultural activities.
This year's exchange is particularly significant as it coincides with the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between the two sides. During the early days of the event, military medical teams conducted joint consultations, treated more than 3,100 border residents, provided over 1,300 free checkups, and distributed more than 2,000 boxes of medicine. These efforts underscore a commitment to community well-being and cross-border collaboration.
On April 13, the Vietnamese naval fleet made its inaugural visit to Beihai City in the Chinese mainland. Troops from both sides participated in vessel tours, experience-sharing sessions, and sports events, further strengthening mutual trust and cooperation ahead of the upcoming 38th joint patrol in the Beibu Gulf.
This week-long exchange not only highlights practical cooperation in defense and health but also symbolizes a dynamic cultural connection.
