Beijing Hosts World’s First Humanoid Robot Marathon

In a groundbreaking fusion of technology and athleticism, south Beijing's "E-town" (Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area) will host the world's first half marathon featuring humanoid robots and human runners on April 13.

The innovative race covers a 21.0975-kilometer course with separate lanes for robots, safeguarded by clear barriers and green belts to ensure safety. Seven aid stations along the route will deliver essential support, such as battery replacements, safety equipment, and auxiliary tools.

Earlier on March 28, six registered robot teams carried out their first on-site road tests, representing roughly a quarter of all participants. Each team is backed by a dedicated support crew performing rapid battery exchanges, reminiscent of Formula 1 pit stops.

Wang Guolin, deputy head of the robot competition group, explained, "The aid stations mainly support participating teams by providing battery replacements, safety equipment and auxiliary tools," highlighting the event's commitment to safety and technological innovation.

This event marks a dynamic milestone by blending cutting-edge robotics with athletic endurance, inspiring tech enthusiasts, athletes, and innovators across the globe to reimagine the future of competitive sports.
