South Korea Mobilizes All Measures to Counter U.S. Tariffs

In a decisive step amid rising global trade tensions, South Korea has announced it will deploy every available measure to counter U.S. tariff impositions. Acting president and Prime Minister Han Duck-soo stressed the need for a comprehensive response during an emergency economic security strategy meeting with key ministers.

Han emphasized that as the global tariff war becomes a reality, a full-scale analysis of the U.S. tariff details is essential. He directed industry and trade ministers to examine the implications closely and engage in proactive negotiations with the United States. The aim is to minimize economic damage and secure stability for the nation’s industries.

In particular, efforts are underway to support sectors hit hardest by these tariffs, including the automotive industry. This comes as U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans for a sweeping tariff strategy, imposing a 10 percent duty on imports from all countries and a targeted 25 percent tariff on South Korean imports.

The swift response underscores South Korea's commitment to safeguarding its trade interests through strategic planning and pan-government coordination. As global markets brace for further shifts, the nation’s proactive measures seek to mitigate potential trade disruptions and foster economic resilience.
