Myanmar Chinese Chamber Rallies Earthquake Relief Efforts

In the wake of a powerful earthquake in Myanmar, the local Chinese business community is stepping up to support affected areas. Lin Wenmeng, president of the Myanmar Chinese Chamber of Commerce, revealed that the community has raised approximately 1 billion Myanmar Kyat (around 3.4 million yuan) by Sunday to help those in need.

Despite this remarkable contribution, there remains an urgent call for additional medical supplies to further assist with relief efforts. Speaking to CGTN from Yangon on March 30, Lin emphasized that every possible measure is being taken by the community to alleviate the suffering in the aftermath of the disaster.

Images provided by Chinese business owners in Myanmar, taken in Mandalay on Sunday, offer a glimpse into the on-ground efforts and unity driving this humanitarian response. The initiative highlights the significant role that local businesses play in times of crisis, mobilizing resources and support swiftly to bridge critical gaps.
