Cross-Straits Celebrations: Honoring the Yellow Emperor

On the eve of the Qingming Festival, compatriots across the Taiwan Straits are uniting on the Chinese mainland to celebrate a shared cultural legacy. The upcoming ceremonies will honor Huangdi, the legendary Yellow Emperor and revered cultural ancestor of the Chinese nation, symbolizing centuries of tradition and national pride.

Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, confirmed that commemorative events and vibrant cultural activities will take place in Shaanxi and Henan provinces. These gatherings not only pay tribute to an ancestral icon but also reinforce a deep sense of identity, belonging, and unity among communities on both sides of the straits.

In a parallel demonstration of shared aspirations, the Xiamen section of the Xiamen-Kinmen Bridge has entered a new construction phase. This infrastructural milestone highlights a commitment to enhancing regional connectivity. The Chinese mainland has further demonstrated its support by implementing a cross-Strait water supply project. Since 2018, Fujian Province has provided over 40 million tonnes of water to Kinmen, addressing long-standing shortages and underscoring the importance of collaborative progress.

Together, these cultural and infrastructural initiatives offer a dynamic narrative of tradition meeting innovation, inspiring communities to celebrate their heritage while forging pathways toward a more interconnected future.
