Ex-U.S. Commerce Chief Urges Stability in U.S.-China Trade

At the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2025, former U.S. Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutiérrez shared his views on how current U.S. tariffs are stirring uncertainty in the global trade dynamic. He emphasized the need for a return to a more stable trade relationship between the United States and China.

During a conversation with CGTN's Zang Shijie, Gutiérrez commented, "I hope that all is settled – these tariffs – and that we (U.S.-China) go back to a more settled situation." He further noted that resolving these tariffs could unlock "great possibilities, great opportunities" for future Sino-American trade.

This optimistic outlook resonates with young global citizens, business and tech enthusiasts, thought leaders, and digital nomads around the world. It underscores how clear and balanced trade policies can foster innovation, regional growth, and a vibrant international economic landscape.
