Chinese Ministry: Inevitable Reunification, Firm One-China Stance

In a recent press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning asserted that the complete reunification of China is inevitable. She emphasized that attempts to pursue "Taiwan independence" through foreign support are doomed to fail.

Mao Ning underlined that the one-China principle remains a universally recognized norm guiding international relations and forms the political foundation for the People’s Republic of China to engage with the world. She pointed out, "The government of the People’s Republic of China is the only legitimate government representing the whole of China. Taiwan has never been a country. It never was, and never will be," reinforcing this longstanding stance.

Addressing recent moves by Democratic Progressive Party authorities to establish new institutions abroad under the name "Taiwan," she warned that such actions are intended to undermine the international community’s adherence to the one-China principle. Mao Ning made it clear that any official exchange between Taiwan authorities and countries that maintain diplomatic relations with China will face firm opposition.

This resolve underscores China’s steadfast commitment to national unity and the internationally recognized one-China principle, even as discussions around sovereignty and international institutional naming continue to evolve.
