Relief Supplies Reach Northwest China After Deadly M6.2 Earthquake

A powerful magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck Jishishan County in the northwest’s Gansu Province on December 18, leaving a devastating toll of 127 lives lost. The tremor, which occurred just 5 kilometers from the border between Gansu and the neighboring Qinghai Province, resulted in 113 fatalities in Gansu and 14 in Qinghai.

In response to the tragedy, relief supplies have swiftly arrived in Dahejia Town, the hardest-hit area in Jishishan County. Yan Wei, the deputy director of the Gansu Blue Sky Rescue Team's rescue center, confirmed that a rescue team is currently setting up 100 tents to provide temporary shelter for resettling the affected villagers.
