Southeast China's Fujian Province has taken significant measures to safeguard its residents as Typhoon Gaemi, the third typhoon of the year, nears. As of 7 a.m. Thursday, local authorities have relocated 156,800 residents to safer areas.
In anticipation of the storm, 73 passenger ferry routes along the province's coast have been suspended, and 97 flights have been canceled, disrupting travel plans for many. The provincial flood control office reports that over 29,000 individuals working on fishing rafts have been evacuated to shore, ensuring their safety from the impending severe weather.
Additionally, 733 fishing boats have been secured in ports to prevent damage from the typhoon's strong winds and waves. Approximately 3,200 people aboard these vessels have also been safely brought ashore. These proactive measures highlight Fujian's commitment to protecting both its population and vital industries from the adverse effects of Typhoon Gaemi.
