China, US Commerce Ministers Seek to Ease Sanctions, Strengthen Trade Relations

In a significant development, China's Minister of Commerce, Wang Wentao, engaged in a phone conversation with his American counterpart, Gina Raimondo, on Tuesday. The discussions centered around the pressing issue of lifting sanctions imposed on Chinese enterprises by the United States.

Minister Wang emphasized the importance of clearly defining the boundaries of national security within economic and trade sectors. He highlighted that such clarity would not only ensure the stability and security of global industrial and supply chains but also foster a conducive policy environment for enhanced collaboration between the two nations' industries.

He further stated that the economic and trade relationship between China and the United States should act as a stabilizing anchor amidst the broader relations between the two powers. Addressing specific concerns, Wang voiced serious apprehensions regarding U.S. policies targeting China's semiconductor industry and the restrictions placed on Chinese connected vehicles.

Wang called on the United States to take the concerns of Chinese companies into earnest consideration, advocating for the immediate lifting of sanctions and the improvement of the business environment for Chinese enterprises operating in the U.S.
