Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Forms Low-Altitude Economy Alliance to Drive Innovation

The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei city cluster, a pivotal economic region in north China, has taken a significant step forward by establishing the Low-Altitude Economy Industry Alliance in Tianjin Municipality. During the official ceremony on Saturday, 33 projects were signed, marking a new era of growth and innovation for the region.

Among the newly launched projects are the construction of a low-temperature battery production line and the development of supporting facilities. Additionally, there is comprehensive planning underway for a low-altitude public route within a science park, highlighting the region's commitment to integrating advanced technologies.

Attendees from Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei Province witnessed a captivating drone show that showcased various low-altitude application scenarios, emphasizing the practical benefits of this emerging economic sector.

Guo Kangwei, head of Baodi District in Tianjin, emphasized the importance of the low-altitude economy, describing it as a representative of new quality productive forces and a fresh engine for economic growth. He highlighted Baodi's efforts to deeply integrate scientific and technological innovation with industrial development, accelerating the formation of industrial clusters related to the low-altitude economy.

The term \"low-altitude economy\" refers to economic activities conducted in airspace typically below 1,000 meters. This includes flight operations, passenger transport, and cargo delivery, among other services. According to a 2024 report by the Chinese government, the low-altitude economy has been identified as a new growth engine, with vertical mobility being recognized as a \"new productive force\" in areas such as passenger and cargo transport.

In 2023, the low-altitude economy sector reached a scale of 506 billion yuan ($70 billion), and projections by China's aviation regulator anticipate this industry expanding to a staggering 2 trillion yuan by 2030โ€”a fourfold increase from 2023 figures.
